Our system was designed with high-throughput walk-away automation in mind. Sample analysis takes place in the well-plate, eliminating the need for sheath fluid as well as reliability problems such as clogs, sample aspiration failure, and sample carryover. The platform is optimized around low-volume assays requiring 10 µL or less total volume, and is capable of analysis times under 10 minutes for a 96-well microtiter plate.
Assay sensitivity and high dynamic range are built on our laser-scanning confocal optical design. Each particle in the sample is raster-scanned with two lasers focused to micron-sized spots, so that very weak signals can be measured without interference from brighter particles.
A confocal aperture eliminates background signal from unbound fluorophores, enabling homogenous assays while also extending sensitivity for washed assays.
